Harrison Bader is going back on the injured list for the San Francisco Giants.

For the second time this season, the Giants are placing Bader on the IL, this time with left plantar fasciitis. San Francisco has recalled outfielder Will Brennan in a corresponding move.

This news comes after Bader exited yesterday's game against the Colorado Rockies in the ninth inning. Drew Gilbert replaced him in the bottom half of the frame.

Bader, who turns 32 next week, initially missed a month of the season with a left hamstring strain. He signed a two-year, $26.5 million deal in the offseason to be the Giants' starting center fielder.

In just 30 games this season, Bader is batting just .170/.198/.358 with five home runs, 17 RBI and an OPS of .556. This is a significant decline from his 2025 season, which was the best offensive season of his career. With the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies last year, Bader hit .277/.347/.449 with 17 home runs and a .796 OPS, both career-highs.

With Bader back on the shelf, the Giants are expected to turn to the aforementioned Gilbert to receive bulk of the reps in center field. San Francisco acquired the speedy outfielder at the trade deadline last year in a deal that sent reliever Tyler Rogers to the New York Mets.

The Giants have been in the middle of a brutal 2026 season. After losing to the Rockies last night in walk-off fashion, the Giants have now lost four games in a row and hold the second worst record in the National League at 22-35 entering Saturday. The only team they are ahead of is the aforementioned Rockies, who have the worst record in MLB at 21-37.
