The San Francisco Giants are likely going to sell ahead of the MLB trade deadline. One player who could be made available for a potential trade is infielder Luis Arraez. Arraez is dealing with an injury at the moment, however. According to MLB.com, the veteran is day to day with right foot soreness.
The injury does not seem to be too serious, but it is something to monitor. The Giants will obviously closely monitor his injury status, but contenders with interest in trading for Arraez will pay attention as well.
Arraez signed with the Giants this past offseason. He is playing well with San Francisco, as Arraez currently holds a .321/.358/.445 slash line to go along with 16 doubles, six triples, three home runs, six stolen bases and an .803 OPS. His six triples are tied for his career-best.
There should be plenty of interest in Arraez before the MLB trade deadline. He is capable of playing second, first or third base as well. Second base is his primary position, but Arraez is capable of moving around the field if necessary.
The Giants are just 33-47 overall. They are in fourth place in the National League West standings. Selling and building the team for next year is probably going to be their best option.
For now, San Francisco is focused on its upcoming series against the Atlanta Braves. The three-game series is set to begin on Friday night in San Francisco. First pitch for Friday’s game between the National League ball clubs is scheduled for 10:15 PM ET.
