Giants walked off by Pirates on brutal error

This is a brutal result for San Francisco, who have now lost three of their last five games. San Francisco entered the month of September well outside of the playoff race. This is the final month of their season, and it’s begun in such a horrific way.

Things started quite well for the Giants, though. They hammered Paul Skenes to the tune of eight hits and five runs in 4.2 innings of work. They hung all five of those runs on him in the second inning of the contest.

Unfortunately, San Francisco’s pitching just couldn’t defend the lead. They were blown up for nine runs in the bottom of the third inning. Eventually, the Giants reclaimed the league, but were unable to hold it down in the ninth inning.

This is certainly a painful loss for the Giants. It’s a difficult one to overcome, even with the losses they have already accumulated. They still have a month of baseball left, though. And they will try to put this one behind them on Wednesday against the Pirates.
