Warriors have Steph Curry injury concern

The Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry are still figuring out their best path.

Curry is eligible to sign a two-year max contract extension, but there are also doubts about whether he'll want to move on if the team struggles again this season.

Notably, he might not be the only one who's worried about this long-term partnership.

According to NBC Sports Bay Area insider Monte Poole, the Warriors are also concerned about Curry's knee and how it might linger into his age-39 season.

Stephen Curry's knee injury is still a concern

“There’s at least some lingering concern about the knee. From what I’ve been told, it can be managed, but it has to be managed and that’s a new thing for Steph because people always say he is the most conditioned guy in the league and now he has to manage a knee,” Poole reported.

While the 12-time All-Star is still fully confident in his ability to stay healthy and be the same sharpshooting behemoth of old, Father Time is undefeated.

“I guess we’ll find out, but from what I understand, he and his trainers have devised ways to kind of work around that and sort of support that whole possibility of the knee not being as great as he wants it to be. So, I’m curious to see how it turns out, but Steph seemed pretty confident that he’ll be able to go out there and put out 70+ games,” added Poole.

That said, the Warriors are pretty much stuck with him, so to speak. There's no scenario where they don't offer him a max contract extension, more so knowing that more than half the NBA would be willing to sell the farm to get him.

Curry missed half of the season with that knee injury in 2025-26, but he was the same unstoppable three-level scorer and playmaker he's always been when he was on the court.

Will he be able to keep it up as his body stops responding in the same way? We'll have to find out.
