Grand Seiko announced a global partnership with Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani, beginning on April 1, 2026, as part of its Grand Moments Project.

Grand Seiko defines its Grand Moments Project as the reflection of a shared philosophy grounded in a deep respect for the value of time and a commitment to approaching each moment with sincerity. Over time, the steady accumulation of such moments refines the quality of time itself.

“To carry forward a part of Grand Seiko’s heritage, shaped through decades of dedication, is something I deeply value,” Ohtani said in a press release. “Feeling that legacy as I wear the watch brings me real joy, and it is my hope that we will continue this journey together.”

Both Grand Seiko and Ohtani share the belief that sustained effort ultimately shapes the future. Guided by this vision, they approach time with intention, refining it through disciplined, consistent pursuit of their respective crafts.

Together, Grand Seiko and Ohtani move forward in a global partnership, united in their commitment to shaping the future through sustained effort.

“Elevating the quality of each moment is important,” Ohtani said. “At the same time, the sustained pursuit of excellence is equally essential. Both truly matter.”

As part of its Grand Moments Project, Grand Seiko writes, “Time – everyone is given their share. So, what can you make out of a moment? The more thought you put into your time, the more alive you feel. The more you believe in the path you follow, the more your world opens up. The journey never ends.”

Ohtani already has a sponsorship deal with Seiko. However, Grand Seiko has operated as a fully independent brand since 2017, despite being part of the same parent company.

Grand Seiko is a luxury brand that offers timepieces made by master craftsmen in Seiko’s two exclusive watchmaking studios, using exclusive movements and the highest grade materials.

Their first watch was produced in Japan in 1960 by Suwa Seikosha with the goal of being the most accurate wristwatch in the world.

Shohei Ohtani gifted teammates Seiko watch

Ohtani gifted each of his teammates a high-end Seiko watch on Opening Day. Along with it was a note with a message from Ohtani, celebrating the new season and looking forward to another championship.

“Happy Opening Day!! Three-Peat!! – Shohei Ohtani.”

The Seiko watch gifted to the players featured a smoky blue dial with a silver bracelet and a chronograph.

Ohtani has now given gifts to his teammates on Opening Day each year he’s been with the Dodgers. Last year, he gave all his teammates a pair of Beats headphones.
