The Cleveland Guardians have had a disappointing season in 2025, entering the year with high expectations after an ALCS appearance in 2024. The Guardians currently have a 66–66 record and enter Friday sitting 5.0 games back of the final American League wild card spot.
The Guardians’ biggest bright spot remains the face of the franchise, Jose Ramirez, who's shown no signs of slowing down in his 13th major-league season. Over 128 games, the 32-year-old third baseman has batted .284 with a .358 on-base percentage, .862 OPS, 26 home runs, and 36 stolen bases.
Ramirez has continued to display his elite power and speed tools and made his fifth consecutive All-Star appearance this year (seventh selection overall).
During Friday’s series opener against the Seattle Mariners, Ramirez doubled in the bottom of the first inning against starting pitcher George Kirby.
That marked his 826th hit at Progressive Field, which the Guardians announced is the most out of any player in MLB history. The team wrote, "Another hit, another franchise record. One of one. #GuardsBall."

Ramirez has continued to solidify himself as one of the best players ever in Guardians history, spending the entirety of his career with the organization since his debut in 2013.
Although Cleveland has a tough road to October baseball this season, Ramirez has continued to elevate the team as a player and as a veteran leader through his dominant play.
