The Cleveland Guardians are set to play the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday afternoon in the final contest of a three-game series. Cleveland currently leads the series 2-0. On Wednesday, the ball club announced a roster move. Right-handed pitcher Cody Heuer was promoted to the Guardians from Triple-A, while right-handed pitcher Franco Aleman was optioned to Triple-A.

Heuer, 29, has displayed potential in the past. He most recently appeared at the MLB level with the Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers in 2025. Heuer was limited due to injuries in previous years, but he turned in a 3.14 ERA in 25 games out of the Chicago White Sox bullpen in 2021.

The Guardians signed Heuer to a minor league contract during the offseason. He has performed well at the Triple-A level in 2026, pitching to a 2.57 ERA in 14 appearances. Now he is hoping to earn a permanent spot in Cleveland’s MLB bullpen.

The Guardians want to win the American League Central division. They have been making moves to improve the roster. In fact, the Guardians already made a trade, as they acquired catcher Patrick Bailey from the San Francisco Giants. The trade provides the Guardians with more depth at the catcher position.

Cleveland leads the American League Central standings at the moment. The ball club is 1.5 games ahead of the Chicago White Sox in the division.

The Guardians are hoping to clinch a series sweep against the Angels on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch for Wednesday afternoon’s game between the Angels and Guardians is scheduled for 1:10 PM EST in Cleveland.
