Gunnar Henderson Sends Message Amid Exciting Orioles Development

The Baltimore Orioles have found their way back into the American League Wild Card race after a tough start to the season.

The team sits at a 54-56 record following an exhilarating comeback win against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. While the record may not pop out as anything special, the Birds are only 1.5 games back of a playoff spot.

While the team's big stars have mostly struggled this year, most notably shortstop Gunnar Henderson, role players have stepped up to lead the team.

This is the case with third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand, who was acquired by the O's in April from the Cincinnati Reds.

Encarnacion-Strand impact on the team has been huge, and that showed in Friday's game with his two-RBI double to tie the game in the seventh inning.

Postgame, Henderson was speaking to the media about the game and his season. Even following a game where he had an emotional two-RBI (and eventually game-winning) triple, he pivoted to talk about his teammate Encarnacion-Strand.

Henderson added at the end of questions, "Before we go, I want to give a shoutout to Christian Encarnacion-Strand...He has come up and been unbelievable and it has been really fun watching him."
