Houston Astros Starting Pitcher Hunter Brown continued his great regular season this afternoon at home against the Minnesota Twins. He surrendered two earned runs over seven innings works and punched out 12. It was his league-leading seventh game this season with 9+ strikeouts. Unfortunately, he walked away with a no-decision. He was opposed by Joe Ryan. He had a great outing in his own right.
Brown has been great this season. He is 8-3 with a 1.88 ERA. His start today actually raised his ERA slightly. He is second in the league in wins, fourth in ERA, fifth in strikeouts, and third in opposing batting average. Will he continue pitching at this high a level as the regular season marches on?

This has been the best season of Brown’s career by a substantial margin. Until this season, he was a mediocre pitcher. His biggest achievement in the league was helping the Houston Astros win the 2022 World Series. During that postseason run, he tossed 3.2 scoreless innings. He has come into his own over the first few months of the 2025 regular season.
Brown’s next scheduled start is June 20 on the road against the Los Angeles Angels. LA does not feature the league’s most potent offense. He will look to take advantage of that. If Brown can keep pitching this well, he will be named to his first All-Star team and possibly win the Cy Young Award.
