The 2026 World Baseball Classic reached a fantastic conclusion as Venezuela upset the USA 3-2 in the championship game on Tuesday night at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida. For Team USA, it was an excruciating end to the tournament that began with glorious expectations. But for Venezuela, it was the greatest sporting triumph for the country on an international stage.
As per MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Venezuela collected a $6.75 million total payout for winning the 2026 WBC. This includes a $2.5 million bonus for winning the final. Half of the amount will be split among the players, with the other half going to the federation. The USA earned the guaranteed sum of $4.25 million as the runners-up.
“The winning team will receive a $2.5 million bonus by the World Baseball Classic, giving the United States or Venezuela a total payout of $6.75 million for the tournament,” Nightengale wrote before the final.

“Half of the money goes to each country’s respective baseball federation, with the rest split among players and staff.”
With about $3.35 million to divide among the players, each will receive around $112,500. The coaches and staff will earn their share from the federation.
Each participating team in the 2026 WBC received at least $750,000 in prize money, according to MLB insider Bob Nightengale. There were additional bonuses based on progression through each round.
“Each of the 20 teams participating in the WBC received $750,000, but there were bonuses depending on how far each team advanced,” Nightengale wrote.
“Team USA and Venezuela each received a $1 million bonus for advancing out of pool play, $1.25 million for winning their quarterfinal games, $1.25 million for winning their semifinal games, with the winner Tuesday night receiving another $2.5 million.”
The prize money was determined ahead of the 2026 World Baseball Classic in agreement with the MLB and the Players Association. The revenue doubled from the previous edition in 2023 after Netflix reportedly paid $100 million for broadcast rights in Japan.
