How playing at Truist Park saved Braves vs. Dodgers

The Atlanta Braves hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night. Clayton Kershaw made his broadcasting debut in the booth for the game, but he did not get to see the Dodgers win. The Braves took the 4-3 victory in the game.

While the Dodgers lost, the Braves barely escaped with the win. Shohei Ohtani hit a leadoff triple in the ninth inning against closer Raisel Iglesias. That triple could have easily been a home run, though, according to Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game.

“There are only two ballparks in Major League Baseball where Shohei Ohtani’s lead-off triple last night against Braves closer Raisel Iglesias is not a home run. Truist Park is one. PNC Park is the other,” McAuley posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Ohtani took a 1-0 sinker to left field, resulting in the triple. Freddie Freeman then struck out before Mookie Betts grounded out. Max Muncy was intentionally walked, and then Tommy Edman flied out to center to end the game. The loss to the Braves broke a six-game winning streak for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are now 80-52 on the year, which places them in first place in the NL West. Meanwhile, the Braves are 77-55 on the year, which places them in first place in the NL Central. The Dodgers are second in the National League while the Braves are in third. That could set up for an NLDS matchup between the two teams. The Braves and Dodgers continue their series at Truist Park on Wednesday night.
