The Toronto Blue Jays entered this evening looking for their tenth win and had some help from Mother Nature to get the job done.
With two outs in the seventh inning, the rain wouldn’t let up, and after a delay that stretched past 11 p.m. EST, the game was called. The Jays walked away victorious by a score of 6–1.
Chris Bassitt got the start for Toronto and pitched the entire game, throwing six innings while allowing just one earned run on four hits and one walk, striking out one batter. The right-hander induced a lot of contact but was able to either record the out or limit the damage.
Bassitt’s only run allowed came in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Josh Rojas clubbed an inside four-seam fastball over the right-field wall for a solo shot, sending it 373 feet. The Toronto starter now sees his ERA drop to 4.16 on the season.

For the Blue Jays, the bats got off to a hot start but didn’t find the scoreboard until the top of the third. Davis Schneider got the party started with a solo shot over the left-field wall, sending an Aaron Civale slider 384 feet.
The Jays tacked on four more runs in the inning, thanks to a George Springer walk, a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. double (scoring Springer), a Bo Bichette single, an Addison Barger double (scoring Guerrero), an Alejandro Kirk single (scoring Bichette), and a Joey Loperfido broken-bat forceout that brought home Barger.
Toronto added another run in the top of the sixth, with Nathan Lukes scoring after Guerrero drove him in on a single—though Guerrero was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.
Through the abbreviated outing, every Jays batter found the hit column except for Ernie Clement, who went an uncharacteristic 0-for-4 on the day. Both Springer and Bichette walked twice, while the Jays collected 12 hits in total. Springer, Guerrero, Kirk, and Loperfido all had multi-hit games.
