Is This The End For Jesse Winker? Breaking Down The Former Mets Star’s Final Options

The MLB free agency has not been kind to Jesse Winker. The New York Mets signed Winker to a one-year deal after he had a decent run in 2024. The Mets have made several changes to the team, and they stayed away from signing the slugger.

Winker’s 2025 season was plagued by injuries. He suffered a right oblique strain in May and was out for six to eight weeks. In July, he suffered a lower back inflammation that placed him on the injured list.

Jesse Winker’s injuries put him in a tough spot where his number drastically declined. Winker slashed 229/.309/.400 and hit only one home run with 10 RBIs. It’s safe to say that Winker is getting no love in his free agency. The designated hitter is still waiting for the right opportunity to come his way.

What Does Jesse Winker’s Current Free Agency Look Like?

Unfortunately, Winker’s free agency looks too bleak. There have been no rumors or interest from other teams as of now. The Mets are clearly out of the race, and so are big-market teams that have spent a lot this offseason.

That said, Jesse Winker is left with only small-market or mid-market teams. Another important fact to consider is his production. Winker’s 2025 season was a disaster, and he has to stay healthy throughout the year.

It’s also worth noting that Jesse Winker can only snag a short-term deal. A one- or two-year deal is possible with a small-market team. There’s still time for Winker to secure a deal. Spring training is underway, and there’s close to a month left for the regular season.

Winker might be able to find a team after all, but he might not get the price he needs. However, the Mets and Winker seem to be far from over.
