Could Tyler Locklear, one of the newest members of the D-Backs, be the answer for the future at first base for the Arizona Diamondbacks?

Newcomer Tyler Locklear had a big moment on Monday night as he hit his first home run of the season and his first homer as a member of the Diamondbacks.

How did the Arizona Diamondbacks fans feel about Locklear after his first real big moment in a D-backs uniform?

Recently, before the MLB trade deadline, the Diamondbacks traded Eugenio Suárez to the Seattle Mariners, and recieved Locklear in the deal with two other prospects. The Snakes earlier made a deal that would send Josh Naylor to the Mariners as well, therefore Arizona needed another first baseman. Naylor signed a one-year deal with the D-Backs this most recent off-season after the Arizona Diamondbacks lost Christian Walker to free agency, as he signed with the Houston Astros.

Tyler Locklear’s upside for the D-Backs:

One thing the Diamondbacks are looking to do is build a young core surrounding their two stars, Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll. But how does Locklear fit into this equation? Is he the answer at first base for the Diamondbacks for the future, or is he just a prospect that the Diamondbacks are willing to give some playing time to see if he takes another step at the major league level?

It is too early to tell, though if Locklear continues to have excellent plate awareness and bring his power to the D-Backs lineup, there is a very good chance that his name could be next up in line shortly.
