After Wednesday night’s two-homer game against the Mariners, Jazz Chisholm Jr. celebrated with a little bit of a reminder to his critics – and colleagues – of who he is.
A fan on X.com retweeted The Athletic’s player poll from last June, when Chisholm was voted the “Most Overrated Player in MLB.” The fan included Chisholm’s numbers since that poll was released:
"144 G / 607 PA · .257/.336/.477 · 32 HR / 38 SB · 5.3 fWAR"
That’s all that needed to be said. Chisholm liked and retweeted the post—with no caption needed—letting the numbers speak volumes.
But let’s add another layer: since returning from the injured list on June 3, he’s hit .315 with a .378/.614 slash line, seven homers and 19 RBIs in June alone, plus five more homers in early July
That stretch makes his claim even stronger.
This season, he is hitting .251/.346/.530 (.876 OPS) with 17 HR, 43 RBIs, and 10 steals in 61 games.
In the last 31 games since his return, he’s been the Yankees' hottest hitter, well above the .247/.344/.502 line posted in his earlier 30-game stint.
He earned his second All-Star nod, his first in pinstripes.
Chisholm does it in his own way. He is demonstrative. He’s flashy. He has fun. That may rub some players on other teams the wrong way, but he has seemingly been embraced in the Yankees clubhouse.
And he isn’t just out there making a statement. He is making a huge contribution.

Overrated? That label from a year ago looks stupid now.
With Chisholm mashing under the spotlight, Chisholm has delivered the perfect response without a word.
