Jazz Chisholm Jr. showed pathetic effort on run to first

The New York Yankees got off to a sluggish start following the All-Star break, and Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s effort reflected that.

The Yankees lost 7-3 to the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park in Atlanta, Ga., on Friday night. Chisholm was facing Spencer Strider in the top of the sixth inning with his Yankees down 7-0. He grounded an outside pitch to second base for what looked like it would be the third out. Recognizing he was likely to be thrown out at first, Chisholm took his sweet time going down the line. He jogged very lightly.

Chisholm went 0-for-4 in the game with a strikeout. That’s not the way you want to go down either.

The poor effort running to first by Chisholm capped off what’s been a rough week for him. He also hit just three home runs in the Home Run Derby and was easily eliminated. He also went 0-for-3 in the All-Star Game.

How will Aaron Boone explain that one?
