Jesus Luzardo Sends Bryce Harper Message After Phillies Win

Bryce Harper helped the Philadelphia Phillies continue their September surge Wednesday, and Jesús Luzardo had plenty of praise for his teammate after the club’s latest victory.

The Phillies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-1, extending their winning streak to six games and improving to 15 wins in their last 17 contests.

Harper went 4-for-4 with four singles and an RBI, while Luzardo earned the win after allowing one earned run over 6 2/3 innings with six strikeouts.

Following the game, Luzardo shared a message about Harper and the way the veteran approaches the game.

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark shared Luzardo’s comments on X after the Phillies’ win.

Luzardo praised Harper’s approach, saying, “He just hits. He plays hard. He plays the game the right way.”

The comments came after Harper opened the game with a bunt single, an unexpected play from one of Philadelphia’s biggest stars.

Harper later downplayed the attention on his own performance, stressing that the Phillies still have work to do during the final stretch of the regular season.

The victory also continued a strong season for both Phillies stars. Harper is batting .274 with a .392 on-base percentage and .509 slugging percentage, while Luzardo improved to 13-5 with a 3.02 ERA.

Luzardo has also recorded 209 strikeouts and a 1.12 WHIP across 169 2/3 innings, giving Philadelphia another dominant performance as the postseason race intensifies.

The Phillies improved to 79-60 with the win and moved into sole possession of the National League’s top Wild Card position.

They remain three games behind the Atlanta Braves in the NL East, but with their recent stretch of success, Philadelphia continues to put pressure on the division leaders entering the final month.
