It was not that long ago that the Cleveland Guardians' season appeared to be over.
After a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday courtesy of a two-home run game from third baseman Jose Ramirez, Cleveland continues to put itself in the postseason conversation and overcome a slow first half of the season.

This was the 27th career multi-homer game for Ramirez, surpassing Albert Belle and Hall of Famer Jim Thome for the most in Guardians history, according to MLB.com's Sarah Langs.

Ramirez did not waste any time getting started. On the fourth pitch of his first at-bat of the game, Ramirez hit an 88 mph changeup to right center field off Marlins pitcher Janson Junk to give the Guardians the early 1-0 lead.

The Marlins put together a three-run fifth inning to tie the game, but Ramirez was not finished yet. With reliever Calvin Faucher on the mound for Miami, Ramirez blasted a 93 mph cutter to right field in the eighth to give the Guardians the lead and eventual win.

Ramirez is batting .294 with 25 home runs and 63 RBI with a .895 OPS. His performance on Tuesday was somewhat of a surprise, given he had not homered in his last six games and only recorded two combined hits during that span.
What may have been lost in Ramirez's historic night is the continuation of a remarkable turnaround from the Guardians. Cleveland (62-56) is 22-8 in its last 30 games. Following a July 6 loss to its AL Central rival Detroit Tigers, Cleveland was 40-48 and losers of 10 in a row.
With six wins in their last seven games, the Guardians seem to be getting hot at the right time. Their schedule has been favorable with series against the Athletics, Chicago White Sox and Colorado Rockies — three teams at the bottom of their divisions — since the All-Star break.
Still, the Guardians are taking care of business and winning those games, which is something they were not doing a short time ago. As the Guardians keep stacking the wins, they continue to get even more dangerous in an AL Central race that was once a runaway for the Tigers.
