Josh Rojas' 2024 season with the Mariners was a tale of two halves. He started strong, hitting .318 through April, but faced a significant decline, eventually ending the season with a .225 batting average.

Despite some of his offensive struggles to finish the season, Rojas' defensive skills remained a bright spot. Since 2023, he has posted impressive defensive metrics across multiple infield positions. His defensive versatility likely also played a key role in the White Sox's decision to bring him on board.
The White Sox, currently in a rebuilding phase, seem to be banking on Rojas' defensive prowess and experience to help strengthen their infield. With the departure of Nicky Lopez, he figures to see a good amount of reps at second but is expected to split time between both second and third base while potentially providing a boost to the lineup against right-handed pitchers. However, his offensive struggles against left-handed pitching last year remain a concern that may keep him out of the lineup from time to time. With that said, his 2.1 bWAR in 2024 would have ranked first on the White Sox among hitters.
