Justin Wrobleski Development Leaves Dodgers With Decision to Make

Wrobleski had been one of the Dodgers' biggest surprises during the first half before running into trouble after the All-Star break. The 26-year-old owns an 11-3 record with a 3.31 ERA over 19 appearances, including 18 starts, while striking out 91 batters and walking 24 across 117 innings.

His latest outing, however, continued a concerning trend. Wrobleski surrendered seven earned runs on seven hits, including four home runs, in 4.1 innings against Chicago. After allowing four home runs against Seattle on July 29, he became the first pitcher in Dodgers franchise history to allow four home runs in consecutive starts.

The timing of the struggles is significant as Glasnow is expected to return to the major league rotation this week and Snell continues moving closer to activation. Their returns would create additional competition for rotation spots during the final two months of the season.

If Wrobleski's struggles persist, the Dodgers could opt to move him into a multi-inning relief role. Such a transition would allow the club to limit his exposure while taking advantage of his stuff in shorter outings as Los Angeles prepares for another postseason run.
