The Royals made two roster moves today ahead of tonight’s game as they recalled second baseman Nick Loftin from Triple-A Omaha. The Royals also designated outfielder Hunter Renfroe for assignment. Loftin in 40 games at Omaha is hitting .295 with a .919 OPS. He has 12 doubles, four home runs, 24 RBI, 27 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, and 39 walks. Renfroe, in 35 games this season, is hitting .182 with a .483 OPS. He has six doubles, four RBI, five runs scored, and eight walks.
Loftin has played in 76 games for the Royals, hitting .229 with a .602 OPS. He has nine doubles, a triple, a home run, 24 RBI, 25 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 23 walks. In 404 career minor league games, he’s hit .278 with a .813 OPS. He has 85 doubles, six triples, 53 home runs, 243 RBI, 283 runs scored, 63 stolen bases, and 213 walks.
Renfroe last season in his first season with Kansas City hit .229 with a .689 OPS. He had 18 doubles, 15 home runs, 52 RBI, 44 runs scored, a stolen base, and 36 walks.
