Ketel Marte has been named the starting second baseman for the National League in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game. This will his second start at second in as many All-Star game appearances.

Marte has been the Diamondbacks’ best player in 2024, hitting .287 with 17 home runs, 50 RBI, and a .871 OPS. His 4.4 bWAR ranks second in the National League behind the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani. Marte is on track to not only be a National League MVP finalist, but could also take home a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award at the position.
Amongst all National League second basemen, Marte ranks first in hits (92), runs (57), home runs (17), OPS (.871), and defensive runs saved (11).
Marte was the leading vote-getter in the first phase of the fan vote, moving on to a 1-on-1 race with the Padres’ Luis Arráez in the second phase. In the previous two updates, he was maintaining a 55/45 lead over San Diego’s first baseman.
