Light-hitting Blake Perkins had a three-run homer and Kyle Harrison bounced back from his worst career start to toss six innings of three-hit ball to pace the Milwaukee Brewers over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies 4-0 on Sunday in the deciding game of the three-game series.
Perkins, who entered hitting .113, put the Brewers in front 4-0 in the fourth with his first home run of the season off Cristopher Sanchez (8-3), who was 6-0 over his previous nine starts. Sanchez, making his 100th career start, allowed four runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings for his first loss since April 18. He struck out three and walked one.
Harrison (8-1) allowed three singles with three strikeouts, no walks and a hit batter in an efficient 80-pitch outing. Abner Uribe followed with a scoreless seventh and Aaron Ashby finished with two scoreless frames.
In Harrison's last start against the A's in the hitter-friendly stadium of their Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas, he allowed eight runs on eight hits in 2 1/3 innings, including three home runs, but avoided the loss when the Brewers rallied for a wild 15-14 victory in 12 innings.
William Contreras and Gary Sanchez opened the fourth with consecutive singles. Contreras was caught in a rundown between third and home on Luis Rengifo's fielder's choice. Garrett Mitchell struck out, but Perkins then sent a 1-0 slider 399 feet to left-center for his first homer since last August.
Jackson Chourio led off the first with his ninth home run, sending a 1-2 sinker from Sanchez 412 feet to center to put the Brewers in front 1-0. It was Chourio's fifth homer in his last five games.
Sanchez, who threw 98 pitches, had allowed only four homers in his first 14 starts.
Milwaukee continues a six-game homestand with the opener of a three-game interleague set against the Cleveland Guardians on Monday, while Philadelphia returns home from a 3-3 road trip to open a three-game series with the Miami Marlins.
