Look for a bomb from Bohm on Dinger Tuesday

It's Tuesday! Time to root on some long bombs. Make sure to opt in to Dinger Tuesday on FanDuel, which gives you $5 back for every homer hit in the game where you've bet on a player to hit a HR. We have three games to look at and three of our favorites to send one yard.

Miami Marlins @ Philadelphia Phillies

We start with the Marlins and Phillies, where the Philadelphia weather is projecting a 28% increase in expected homers, per Ballpark Pal. For our weekly readers, that is one of the highest numbers we've seen yet and something we have to follow. Before we get to our selection, we should note that Rhys Hoskins of the Phillies is on fire, with a home run in four straight games. By all means, following that streak is worth considering, but we're opting for some longer odds tonight.

Alec Bohm (+560)

Yes, Bohm has just eight HRs this year, but two of those have come in the past seven games, and he's hitting much better of late. Bohm has 2+ total bases in nine of his past 14 games. The real kicker for our selection of Bohm is his brief history against Miami's starter Braxton Garrett. In just two plate appearances against Garrett, Bohm has a homer off the Marlin lefty. Bohm is hitting LHPs much better this season, and +560 for a guy who has gone yard against the starter before is odds we're OK betting on. Win or lose, the hope is that this game offers us plenty of homers to get our money back and then some.

Cincinnati Reds @ New York Mets

Next on the Dinger Tuesday agenda is a look into the Reds and Mets. The New York heat today is offering us a +18% increase in expected HRs. Our focus is squarely on the Mets for our HR pick; few teams are whacking lefties like New York.

Mark Canha (+470)

Let's preface this selection by mentioning that Canha is not hitting particularly well of late. Canha is playing on a part-time basis for the Mets, but after not playing yesterday, the expectation here is that he will be in the lineup against Mike Minor and the Reds. The reason for that confidence is Canha's success against Minor. In 18 plate appearances against the Cincy starter, Canha has three HRs. Recent hits or not, that's history we love to see.

Minnesota Twins @ Los Angeles Dodgers

We'll wrap our Tuesday home run picks in the Twins-Dodgers game, a target game because of the weather. The Los Angeles forecast suggests a 19% bump in HRs. Both starters in Joe Ryan and Julio Urias have let up their fair share of homers this season, opening us up to some nice opportunity tonight.

Cody Bellinger (+430)

Bellinger is here simply because we want to ride what could potentially be a hot hand. Bellinger is fresh off a two-HR game on Sunday against the Padres and has hit for power at a far more frequent rate when facing a RHP. That's what he has this evening in Joe Ryan, and we're banking on Bellinger's recent game as a sign of things to come. It was his first HR in nine games.

If you wanted to get a bit outlandish tonight, you could parlay our three favorites on FanDuel at a juicy +18026. Even $5 would net you $901.30, should these three come through for us. Let's have some fun tonight, and enjoy the action!

In other news ...

First USA Today preseason poll gives the nod to Alabama at No. 1 — The college football season is almost here, and with it comes rankings. Despite losing to Georgia in the National Championship, Alabama is the No. 1 seed in the preseason polls. It helps when you're bringing back the Heisman winner at quarterback in Bryce Young. The Crimson Tide are +175 to win the National Championship, and Young is +380 to win another Heisman. C.J. Stroud of Ohio State is the betting favorite to win the Heisman at +220, and his Buckeyes are No. 2 in the first poll of the year. Georgia is No. 3.

Boston Bruins bring back Patrice Bergeron on reasonable one-year deal — Bergeron himself had remarked that a retirement was a very real possibility when the Bruins' postseason came to an end. Instead, he's back with Boston for a 19th season, signing for just $2.5 million. Bergeron had himself one of the best seasons of his career last year, winning his fifth Selke Trophy — awarded to the top defensive forward. He could be a good bet to win it again when the market opens.

Kevin Durant drama continues — We almost don't want to shine a light on this "drama" between Durant and the Nets, since there is nothing tangible to take away from any of it. Durant isn't happy with Brooklyn, and now he's reportedly told Nets owner Joe Tsai to trade him or fire head coach Steve Nash and general manager Sean Marks. The only betting advice we can glean from all of this is to stay far away from any Brooklyn futures. Somehow, the Nets still have the sixth-best odds to win the NBA Finals next season, at +1400.
