Look for Yanks to bash on Dinger Tuesday

Was your Fourth of July weekend full of fireworks, watching grown men and women eat more hot dogs in 10 minutes than you've eaten in your life, and of course, lots of sports betting? Well, if it wasn't, then you didn't do it right. Maybe your ears are still ringing from Monday's fireworks or you're still recovering from a food coma -- OK, the only two people who can use this excuse are Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo. Either way, you need to start the post-holiday week off right, and the best way to do that is to bet on home runs

It's another Tuesday, which means you need to take advantage of FanDuel's Dinger Tuesday promotion. If you place a $25 wager on a player to hit a home run, you'll receive $5 back for every home run in that game, regardless if that player hits one or not. Yardbarker's own Griffin Carroll hit on two of his home run selections last week -- Kyle Schwarber (+350) and Mike Trout (+210) -- so hopefully I can do the same. Just like Griffin, we're going to key in on three games and three players for this week.

New York Yankees vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, 7:05 p.m. ET

PNC Park ranks in the top half of Major League Baseball in home runs, but that's not the main reason you should expect a lot of homers on Tuesday in Pittsburgh. The main reason? The Bronx Bombers are coming to town. The New York Yankees lead all of Major League Baseball with 133 home runs, including a league-best 44 home runs vs. left-handed pitching. With the veteran Jose Quintana starting for the Pirates on Tuesday, I have a feeling a couple of Yankees are going to take him deep.

Gleyber Torres (+420): I know what you're going to say. We're talking home runs and you're not taking Aaron Judge? I mean he only leads the majors with 29 homers. It's not a bad bet, but I'm taking Gleyber Torres to go Yahtzee on Tuesday. Of the 13 home runs Torres has hit this season, eight have come against lefties. Now, Quintana hasn't give up a lot of home runs this season -- seven total -- but he hasn't faced a lineup like the Yankees yet either. I expect Quintana to pitch around Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, which means some other guys are going to get some better pitches to hit. One of them should be Torres, who is more than capable of taking one out of the park.

Kansas City Royals vs. Houston Astros, 8:10 p.m. ET

The Astros trailed the Royals 5-0 without recording a hit through the first 3 1/2 innings on the Fourth of July but still came back to win on Monday. You know who won it for them? The American League Player of the Month for June, Yordan Alvarez. You know how he won it for them? With a walk-off home run. With Zack Greinke starting against his former team on Tuesday, I'd expect some of his old teammates to take him deep. Greinke isn't the pitcher he once was, and he knows it. He relies on his secondary pitches more than ever, but that's not going to work against Houston. The Astros simply have way too good of a lineup. The veteran has allowed eight home runs this season and has allowed at least one homer in three of his last four starts. Expect the Astros to take Greinke deep more than once on Tuesday.

Yordan Alvarez (+255): Good news for Houston: Alvarez passed his concussion protocol test on Saturday after colliding with shortstop Jeremy Pena on a fly ball last week. Even better news: His bat still remains hot. Alvarez leads all of baseball in slugging percentage and OPS, and he's absolutely dominated the Royals this season. Alvarez is 8-for-14 with three home runs against Kansas City, and I don't see Greinke and the Royals slowing him down on Tuesday. Bet on Alvarez to hit at least one home run on Tuesday.

Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers, 8:10 p.m. ET

The Brewers haven't been known in the past for the long ball, but that hasn't been the case this season. Milwaukee is second in the National League and tied for third in the MLB in homers. With Chicago's Kyle Hendricks starting at hitter-friendly Miller Park, bet on the Brew Crew to hit some homers on Tuesday. Hendricks has allowed 14 home runs this year, sixth most in the National League, and I don't see him keeping the Brewers inside the Park on Tuesday.

Rowdy Tellez (+285): Of the 14 home runs Hendricks has allowed this season, 12 have been against left-handed hitters. Christian Yelich is the most popular choice when you think of a left-handed power bat for the Brewers, but I'm going to go out on a limb and take Tellez to homer on Tuesday. Fourteen of Tellez's 16 home runs have come against right-handed pitching, and he's slashing .314/.368/.714/1.082 in 32 at-bats against the Cubs this year. The Cubs don't have a lot of left-handed depth in their bullpen and have allowed the the third most home runs in baseball. Tellez isn't the most prominent name on the Brewers, but he can hit and hit for power. Putting money on Tellez to homer on Tuesday is worth it.

In other news ...

Favorites Chestnut, Sudo win Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest: Joey Chestnut (-3000) ate 63 hot dogs en route to his 15th title, and Miki Sudo (-5000) ate 40 to win her eighth Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on the Fourth of July. The under of 74.5 (+110) hit, but due to a fan interfering with Chestnut during the competition, some sportsbooks refunded all single bets that took the over of 74.5 hot dogs. Bet MGM had the men's field (any man other than Chestnut) set at 10-1 and the women's field (any woman other than Sudo) set at 11-1.

Djokovic, Nadal advance to Wimbledon quarterfinals: Top-seeded Novak Djokovic and No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal advanced to the men's Wimbledon quarterfinals with victories over the Fourth of July weekend. Djokovic (-250) remains the favorite to win Wimbledon, while Nadal has the second-best odds at 4-1.
