LSU Baseball Commit Withdraws From MLB Draft
Scott Clause / USA Today

The LSU Tigers will be getting one of their top recruits to campus after he pulls his name out of 2025 MLB Draft.

On Friday morning, just a couple days before the start of the MLB Draft, Reagan Ricken, a right-handed pitcher from Temecula, Cali. announced he will be pulling his name from the draft and come to LSU.

Ricken ranks as the No. 69 overall recruit and No. 13 RHP in the 2025 class according to Perfect Game. He also ranked 121st on ESPN's final MLB Draft rankings.

Ricken committed to the Tigers way back in October of 2023, almost two years ago, and has held steady since. He's been on MLB team's radar for a while now and was likely to be selected, but word is that he had a lofty asking price, which many teams weren't willing to pay.

Ricken becomes the second LSU commit to withdraw his name from the MLB Draft. The other is Omar Serna, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound catcher who ranks as the No. 40 overall recruit and No. 4 catcher in the class according to Perfect Game.

Last year, we saw Derek Curiel do this same thing. Not long before the draft, Curiel pulled his name out and committed to coming to LSU. Since then, he's earned a starting spot as a freshman, won a national championship and was in the running for Freshman of The Year.

Getting Ricken to campus is big for LSU's bullpen. The righty is super talented and will help bolster LSU's pitching staff, which is losing quite a few arms this year.
