The Seattle Mariners clinched the AL West for the first time since 2001 after finishing the regular season with a 90–72 record. The Mariners are built for a deep postseason run, featuring one of the league’s best rotations. Bryan Woo has continued to solidify himself as one of the best right-handed arms in the league with his dominant rising fastball. The 25-year-old starter earned his first career All-Star selection in 2025.
Woo started 30 games this year for Seattle, going 15–7 with 198 strikeouts in 186 2/3 innings pitched. He posted a 2.94 ERA, which ranked fifth in the American League. Unfortunately for Seattle, Woo’s availability is in question as he left his final regular season start early against the Houston Astros on Sept. 19 with tightness in his right pectoral muscle.
Woo’s MRI revealed mild inflammation, leading to his skipped start during the final week of the regular season. As the postseason approaches, the Mariners earned a bye through the first round of the playoffs, immediately advancing to the ALDS, which gives Woo an extra five days to recover.
The Mariners shared that Woo would be scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday. Manager Dan Wilson anticipates that Woo will be on the ALDS roster, yet the right-hander must throw at least twice before starting a game, making Thursday a huge first step. Woo would potentially be able to start Game 3 if he accomplishes two throwing sessions without any added discomfort.
“Bryan Woo will throw a bullpen session on Thursday -- though not vs. hitters during a scrimmage. Dan Wilson is still optimistic that Woo will be on their ALDS roster, but it's also likely they'll want to see him throw off a mound at least twice before making a playoff start,” wrote MLB.com’s Daniel Kramer.

The Mariners do feature one of the best rotations in the league with Logan Gilbert, George Kirby and Luis Castillo all being capable playoff starters.
So it is likely the organization will be cautious with Woo even in such a crucial part of the postseason. Woo has emerged as a star for Seattle and he will remain under team control for multiple seasons after 2025.
