Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Yankees just days after being named to his first MLB All-Star Game, continuing a breakout 2025 season.
Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo delivered the best start of his young career on Thursday, taking a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the New York Yankees. Jazz Chisholm Jr. broke it up with a leadoff single, but Woo’s brilliance had already been on full display.
The gem came just days after Woo was named to the American League All-Star team for the first time in his career. He pitched 7.1 innings, allowing just two hits and two earned runs while walking two and striking out five.

Woo is putting together a Cy Young-caliber campaign in 2025. Through 18 starts, he owns a 2.75 ERA over 114 innings already surpassing last year’s total, and continues to serve as a reliable anchor in Seattle’s rotation. His performance builds on a breakout 2024 season, when he solidified his spot in the Mariners’ starting five by going 9–3 with a 2.89 ERA across 121 innings. One of the most dependable arms in the league last season, Woo has taken another step forward, emerging as one of the American League’s top pitchers.
Before reaching the big leagues, Woo developed his craft at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, a mid-major program in the Big West Conference. His college career, however, was far from smooth. Between a pandemic-shortened 2020 season and Tommy John surgery in 2021, Woo faced multiple setbacks. Despite limited collegiate success, his raw talent and potential caught the attention of scouts, and the Mariners selected him in the sixth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. He quickly ascended through Seattle’s farm system and has since established himself as a cornerstone of the club’s rotation.
The Mariners, currently in second place in the AL West at 48–45, continue to ride Woo’s stellar season as they push for a postseason berth. He’ll represent Seattle at the 2025 All-Star Game in Atlanta alongside teammates Julio Rodríguez, Cal Raleigh, and Andrés Muñoz, as the Mariners send four players to Truist Park for next week’s festivities.
