After providing two of the team's three RBIs and turning a crucial outfield double play, Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone exited Sunday's game in the sixth inning.

Canzone was seen clutching the back of his right leg as he tried to beat a throw to first base. The groundout managed to score Julio Rodriguez to give the Mariners a 3-1 lead, but Canzone was forced to exit the game with what the team called hamstring soreness. He was replaced in left field by Luke Raley.

The 28-year-old is enjoying the best season of his MLB career with the Mariners and has emerged as a legitimate threat at the plate. Through 70 games this year, Canzone is slashing .281/.353/.549 with 12 home runs and 33 RBI. Earlier in Sunday's game, Canzone hit a home run off Boston Red Sox starter Payton Tolle, his first off a left-handed pitcher this year. His .915 OPS leads all starters on the team, and he has a .991 fielding percentage with just one error in right field.

When asked about the injury after the game, Canzone told reporters, "I'll be alright", and that he plans to travel with the team to Pittsburgh. Canzone will undergo further testing on Monday, which is an off day for the Mariners. Hamstring injuries can feel completely different the next day, so Seattle will likely want to see how Canzone feels on Monday before deciding on his future.

The Mariners salvaged a win in the final game of a three-game set against Boston. Seattle sits atop the AL West Division, with a narrow 1.5 game lead over the surprising Athletics . While Canzone's status is up in the air, Seattle expects to get both Randy Arozarena and Brendan Donovan back in the near future. Arozarena could join the team as soon as the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, while Donovan is on the verge of heading on a rehab assignment.
