Mariners vs. Angels: After a break in their schedule on Thursday, the Seattle Mariners begin their first road trip of the year with a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels. Game 1 between the two American League West rivals starts on Friday evening at Angel Stadium.

The Mariners head into the road trip with a 3-4 record. They split the four-game homestand against the Cleveland Guardians to start the 2026 season. However, Seattle lost to the New York Yankees at T-Mobile Park despite winning the opening encounter.

Los Angeles also goes into their home opener for the 2026 campaign on a 3-4 record. They surprised the Houston Astros by winning two of the four games at Daikin Park. But the Angels came up second best to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field after losing the series decider.

Mariners vs. Angels Game 1: Probable Starting Pitchers

Bryan Woo will be the starting pitcher for the Seattle Mariners in Game 1. Woo carried on from his excellent 2025 campaign with another quality start to begin the new season. The 25-year-old right-hander made 86 pitches in his first outing with 13 whiffs. He allowed just two earned runs from four hits and two walks in 6.0 innings while racking up nine punchouts.

Reid Detmers will take the mound for the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. He had an unlucky day on his first start of the season against the Houston Astros last week. The 26-year-old southpaw allowed three earned runs in 4.2 innings off six base hits. Yet Detmers produced 15 whiffs in his 95-pitch outing, including nine strikeouts.

Mike Trout, Zach Neto, and Nolan Schanuel are three of the main sluggers for the Los Angeles Angels. Each of them already has two home runs for the season. Oswald Peraza is also off to a good start with his new team.

With home advantage and an offense in better shape, the Angels should make a winning start to their series with the Mariners.
