The Chicago Cubs already have two All-Star representatives, with Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker making the roster for the National League as starters. On Sunday, a third Cubs player has made the NL All-Star roster, as LHP Matthew Boyd was named a member of the roster for the Mid-Summer Classic.

Boyd has exceeded all expectations in his first season with the Cubs, posting a 2.65 ERA through 17 starts. In addition, Boyd holds an 8-3 record, and has 87 strikeouts compared to just 22 walks.
The case for Boyd to make the All-Star team has been there, and baseball justice was properly served with his addition to the NL roster. The case may have been considered quiet for Boyd, but he is rightly representing the Cubs.
This marks Boyd's first career All-Star appearance, coming in his age-34 season. Nonetheless, what Boyd has done for the Cubs, especially in the absence of Justin Steele and Shota Imanaga this season, is spectacular and appreciated within the fanbase. Now, Boyd will get the national recognition he deserves after a spectacular start to 2025.
