The Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers are meeting in the National League Championship Series for the second consecutive season and third time since 2018.
With this year’s matchup once again beginning at American Family Field, the Dodgers will be spending the next few days on the road before returning to Dodger Stadium. Playing in Milwaukee is often accompanied by a stay at the infamous Pfister Hotel.
On one hand, the Pfister Hotel is a luxury four-star establishment renowned for its exceptional service and top-tier amenities. On the other, it has developed a notorious reputation for being haunted.
The hotel’s spooky lore is so intense that Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernández have passed on staying there in recent years. Max Muncy, however, is taking a different approach and said he would welcome any spectral roommates with open arms.
“No, I let it go. If there’s a ghost in there, come on in,” Muncy began. “If the TV turns on, I know he’s friendly. Hopefully he’s just not there to disturb me. I welcome them. If there’s a ghost, let’s have a good time with it, come on in. It is what it is.”
Carlos Gomez, Adrian Beltre and Ji-Man Choi are among the MLB players who claimed to have experienced bizarre supernatural activity during their respective stays at the hotel.
However, many others have spent time at the Pfister Hotel without any issues. That includes Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who genuinely enjoys his visits to the luxury landmark.
“Those stories went away when I was about 10 years old,” Roberts said during the 2025 NLCS. “So no, not anymore. I’m OK to go to bed now.”
The Pfister Hotel originally opened in 1893. Skeptics often point to the building’s century-old age as the most logical explanation for the creaking sounds, malfunctioning wiring, and aging infrastructure that continue to fuel its haunted reputation.
The Dodgers and Brewers finished with the top two records in the NL this season, so it’s only fitting that they are meeting again for a chance to play in the World Series.
Milwaukee went 4-3 against the L.A. during the regular season, and while the teams appear to be evenly matched on paper, Roberts expects the Brewers to give the Dodgers some trouble in the NLCS.
“They’re difficult to prepare for because they play team baseball,” Roberts said. “They pitch, they defend, they run the bases well, they don’t strike out much, they put the ball in play. Obviously, Contreras, Bauers, those guys, anyone can hit the ball out of the ballpark, but those are guys that you look at slug.
“But I think at the end of the day they take good at bats, and they play baseball. So it’s not small ball, it’s not pesky, it’s just baseball. With that said, that’s a tough brand of baseball to prepare for.”
