Mets Announce Move for Former Giants Player
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Mets have the second-best record in baseball at 21-11, behind only the defending-champion Los Angeles Dodgers (21-10). While stars like Pete Alonso (.342/.475/.649) and Francisco Lindor (.298/.362/.484) are red-hot, the pitching staff is the biggest reason for the team's success.

The Mets lead MLB with a 2.68 team ERA, 0.18 points ahead of the second-place San Diego Padres. The entire starting rotation is performing well, as ace Kodai Senga tops the unit with a 1.38 ERA, followed by Tylor Megill (1.74), Griffin Canning (2.61), Clay Holmes (2.64), and David Peterson (3.06).

The bullpen is also on point, led by hurlers like Huascar Brazoban (1.40), Max Kranick (2.66), and Reed Garret (0.68). Now, New York is adding a new member to the band, via the team's social media.

The Mets called up right-hander Austin Warren from Triple-A Syracuse. Meanwhile, they optioned fellow right-hander Ty Adcock and placed Paul Blackburn on a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn.

Warren notched a 1.69 ERA in six appearances for the San Francisco Giants last season. Before that, the 29-year-old pitched 32 games across three seasons for the Los Angeles Angels. He sports a 3.14 ERA, a 6-0 record, and a 1.25 WHIP for his career.

New York starts its road trip against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night before facing the Arizona Diamondbacks, each three-game sets. It will then return home to host the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates before facing the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox on the road.
