The New York Mets have won four games in a row and five of their last six. Additionally, they are just 1.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies, who own the best record in the MLB, for the top spot in the NL East. However, not all is great for the Mets despite their team success, and a lot of it comes down to one player.
In his first season after signing with the Mets in the offseason, star outfielder Juan Soto is leaving a lot to be desired, especially recently. During the team's win against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, the 26-year-old went 0-for-4 at the plate with a strikeout.
After the game, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza sent a message about Soto that could have an impact for the rest of the season.
In addition to going 0-for-4 on Tuesday, Soto has not recorded a hit since New York's win against the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 24, when he went 2-for-5 and batted in two runs.
On Wednesday, Mendoza reiterated his confidence in Soto and made it clear he believes he will turn things around.
"Yesterday was a perfect example of his season so far--0-for-4 with three balls over 100 MPH...Too good of a hitter, too good of a player," Mendoza said about Soto. "He'll be Juan Soto here."

Through 54 games this season, the four-time All-Star has greatly struggled. During that span, he is batting .228 with an OPS of .756. Additionally, he has hit eight home runs and recorded 25 RBI.
Despite his early-season struggles, it seems that the Mets have not lost their confidence in Soto, who finished third in AL MVP voting last season. There is a lot of baseball left, so it will be worth seeing if Soto can turn things around, especially as the Mets look to build on their overall team success.
