The New York Mets made a bullpen move Sunday after Saturday's 9-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates , optioning right-hander Xzavion Curry to Triple-A Syracuse and selecting the contract of right-hander Jack Weisenburger.

The club announced the transaction on its official X account before Sunday's series finale. Weisenburger joins the active roster for what could be his Major League debut, while Curry returns to Triple-A after providing length out of the bullpen.

The move came one day after Curry threw three scoreless innings in relief during the loss to Pittsburgh. He struck out four, allowed one hit and helped preserve the rest of New York's bullpen despite the lopsided defeat.

Curry's 55-pitch outing left him unavailable for Sunday's game, prompting the Mets to bring up a fresh arm. Weisenburger has spent the season with Triple-A Syracuse, posting a 7.22 ERA with a 1.57 WHIP and 46 strikeouts across 52.1 innings while working primarily in relief.

Curry has filled an important multi-inning role for New York this season. Across 16 major league innings, he owns a 2.81 ERA with 10 strikeouts and a 1.31 WHIP, giving the Mets valuable flexibility whenever the pitching staff needed extra coverage.

The Mets continue to manage injuries throughout their pitching staff. Kodai Senga remains on the injured list as he recovers from a shoulder capsule injury, leaving the club without one of its top starters during the stretch run.

New York entered Sunday with a 51-67 record, fifth in the National League East after the shutout loss. While postseason hopes have faded, the Mets continue evaluating bullpen depth, and Weisenburger now gets an opportunity to prove he belongs at the major league level.
