The New York Mets have made a roster move following Friday night's exhausting 9-7 victory over the Miami Marlins, optioning right-handed reliever Tobias Myers to Triple-A Syracuse in an effort to add a fresh arm to the bullpen. The decision came after the Mets used seven different pitchers to get through 10 innings against Miami.

According to The Athletic's Will Sammon, New York made the move immediately after the game as the club looked to replenish a heavily used pitching staff ahead of Saturday's matchup. Myers still has a minor-league option remaining and has struggled in recent weeks after a strong start to the season.

The right-hander entered Friday's game carrying a 4.05 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP across 20 appearances, including two starts. In 33.1 innings, Myers recorded 26 strikeouts and converted one save while serving in a variety of bullpen roles. Myers started the season well and posted a 2.05 ERA through his first 10 appearances, establishing himself as a reliable option for manager Carlos Mendoza.

However, his results have declined significantly over the past month. That trend continued Wednesday when he surrendered a game-tying two-run home run to Owen Caissie in the eighth inning of the Mets' series finale against the Cincinnati Reds, forcing the game into extra innings.

Over Myers last five games, He has allowed five runs on seven hits across 5.2 innings. Looking at a bigger sample, he has surrendered 10 earned runs over his last 10 innings pitched and owns a 6.23 ERA across his previous seven appearances. The Mets considered other bullpen options, but roster flexibility played a major role in the decision.

Huascar Brazobán and Austin Warren also have minor-league options remaining, but both pitchers have become important contributors in recent weeks. Brazobán has emerged as one of the most effective relievers in the bullpen, while Warren earned the victory Friday after delivering a scoreless 10th inning against Miami.

There has been no announcement yet on which pitcher will take Myers' spot on the active roster, but the expectation is that New York will promote a fresh arm before Saturday's game. The Mets acquired Myers as part of the trade that brought Freddy Peralta to New York, and the club still sees him as a valuable depth option. A stint at Triple-A could give him the opportunity to regain the form he showed earlier in the season before returning to the Major League roster.

The Mets remain in the thick of the National League playoff race and will continue relying on bullpen depth throughout the season. The club hopes Myers can quickly regain his early season form and provide additional relief support later in the year.
