Mets Make Unexpected Francisco Lindor Decision After Brewers Loss

Almost nothing is going right for the New York Mets right now, including star shortstop Francisco Lindor's struggles. The 31-year-old has just two hits in his last seven games and slashed .204/.259/.369 with four homers and 10 RBI in June.

New York's entire offense is struggling, as it's scored five-plus runs in a game just once since June 22. The Mets have lost four straight contests and are 3-7 in their last 10.

They fell 7-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday afternoon, but they'll have a chance to make up for it in the second half of their doubleheader on Wednesday night. The team made a surprising lineup change before the second matchup, via their social media.

New York put Lindor second in the batting order as a designated hitter. The last time the four-time All-Star did not bat leadoff in the team's starting lineup was May 17, 2024.

Lindor is slashing .255/.324/.442 with 16 homers and 43 RBI over 84 games this season.

The Cleveland Guardians traded the 5-foot-10-inch, 190-pounder to the Mets with Carlos Carrasco for Andres Gimenez, Josh Wolf, Isaiah Greene, and Amed Rosario in January 2021. He slashed .310/.355/.466 in the 2016 playoffs and .364/.364/.909 in the 2018 playoffs.

Right-handed pitcher Huascar Brazoban (3-2, 3.83 ERA) will start for the Mets on Wednesday night against Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski (3-0, 1.13 ERA). The Mets will then close the series out on Thursday before hosting a three-game set with the New York Yankees over the weekend.
