The Mets exploded offensively on Saturday, storming to an 11-4 victory over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park and snapping their seven-game losing streak. After falling behind early, New York erupted in the third inning—back-to-back-to-back homers from Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, and Juan Soto off rookie Mick Abel—and never looked back. Griffin Canning rebounded from prior struggles, tossing five effective innings and settling down the Phillies’ lineup.

The Mets’ rally was supported by consistent hitting throughout the game. Lindor finished with three RBIs, while Soto and Nimmo each launched two solo homers, powering a total of seven over the course of the night.

Jared Young and Francisco Álvarez added homers later, completing the onslaught. New York’s bullpen sealed the win, holding Philadelphia scoreless over the final four innings.

While it was an all-around team showing for New York, Soto once again stole the headlines with his multi-homer effort. In doing so, he made MLB history. Expert researcher Sarah Langs reported that Soto is now tied atop the list of multi-home games for a player 27 years old or young, a stat the Mets reacted to on X.

The win carries immediate impact for both squads. For the Mets, the victory halted a crushing skid and pulled them back into a tie atop the NL East. Meanwhile, the Phillies experienced a rare letdown, marking just their second loss in 10 games.

With the series now knotted 1-1, both teams prepare for a decisive Sunday finale in Philly. New York will send David Peterson to the mound against Jesús Luzardo. The winner not only takes the series but claims first place in one of baseball’s hottest divisional races.
