Mets Share Bo Bichette Update After 1 Missed Game

The New York Mets received a major boost Friday when Bo Bichette returned to the starting lineup after missing just one game with a left foot injury.

Bichette is batting third and playing third base against the Houston Astros at Citi Field, putting one of New York’s most important hitters back in the middle of the order.

The quick return comes after Bichette fouled a ball off his left foot during Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers. He was forced to leave the contest, raising immediate concerns about a potentially longer absence.

Those concerns were eased when X-rays revealed a left foot contusion with no structural damage. Bichette then sat out Thursday’s 8-2 loss before returning to the lineup Friday.

The Mets confirmed his availability through their official X account while announcing their starting lineup for the series opener against Houston.

Bichette’s return is particularly significant given his production throughout August. He entered Friday with a .898 OPS for the month and has established himself as one of the Mets’ most reliable offensive contributors.

Through 131 games this season, Bichette is batting .264 with 14 home runs and 66 RBIs. His 138 hits also lead the Mets, highlighting how important his bat has become to the club.

Manager Andy Green wasted little time putting Bichette back in his familiar No. 3 spot, placing him behind Francisco Lindor and restoring some stability to the lineup.

The Mets entered Friday at 60-74 and last in the National League East, making their matchup with Houston an opportunity to play spoiler against an American League contender.

With Bichette back after only one missed game, New York can move forward without the extended absence that initially appeared possible.
