Veteran reliever David Robertson, who last pitched for the Texas Rangers in 2024, remains on the radar for teams seeking bullpen help.

According to Will Sammon of The Athletic , both the New York Mets and Yankees have recently checked in on the 40-year-old right-hander. Multiple clubs are expected to attend one of his upcoming throwing sessions.

Robertson remains a free agent despite garnering interest last offseason. Over the past three seasons, he's averaged 63 appearances while posting a 2.82 ERA. In 2024, he pitched 72 innings with a 3.00 ERA and 99 strikeouts. Despite his age, his velocity has held steady, with his cutter averaging over 93 mph the past two seasons.

Teams weighing Robertson's value will likely factor in their current relief corps performance. The Yankees' bullpen sits in the bottom third of MLB with a 4.08 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. Devin Williams has collected 13 saves, while setup men like Ian Hamilton have shored up middle innings with a 3.41 ERA over 58 innings.

The Mets bullpen has fared better, ranking 14th in ERA (3.83). They've recorded 28 saves, led by Edwin Díaz's 19 and sport a 1.03 WHIP.

Robertson, with his postseason pedigree and late-inning experience, could be a welcome addition for either club.
