Michael Conforto was looking to re-establish himself when he signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers before the 2025 season, but nothing went as he hoped.
Conforto posted the worst season of his career, batting just .199/.305/.333 with 12 home runs, 54 runs scored, 36 RBI and an 83 wRC+.
The Dodgers spent the offseason working with Conforto on his swing, and that continued throughout the year. Despite a few weeks of positive results, things never clicked for the left-handed hitter.
That limited Conforto’s market as he re-entered free agency and began looking for a fresh start. He has now found that as according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Conforto is signing with the Chicago Cubs:

Multiple teams, including the Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox, had interest in Conforto prior to him deciding to signing, but the Cubs and Dodgers have now essentially swapped outfielders with Conforto and Kyle Tucker.
Although things were bad for Conforto in L.A., he’s been a positive offensive player throughout his MLB career. From his debut in 2015 with the New York Mets through 2024 with the San Francisco Giants, Conforto hit .251/.348/.456 with 167 home runs, 520 RBI and 514 runs with a 119 wRC+ in 1,012 games.
In addition, the former All-Star had four separate seasons with a wRC+ greater than 125, two of which were above the 145 mark.
Conforto was left off the Dodgers’ postseason roster, but hit .200/.235/.500 with three home runs during the Mets’ run to the World Series in 2015.
The Dodgers host the Cubs at Dodger Stadium from April 24-26, where they should present Conforto with his 2025 World Series champions ring.
On Saturday, the Dodgers claimed Jack Suwinski off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Suwinski was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Feb. 16 after two poor seasons with the club. Over the past two years, he’s hit just .169/.271/.297 with 12 home runs and a 59 wRC+ over 147 games.
But in 2023, Suwinski turned in what looked like a breakout season by hitting .224/.339/.454 with 26 home runs, 63 runs scored, 74 RBI and 13 stolen bases with a 112 wRC+ in 144 games.
