The Los Angeles Dodgers have continued their strong play this season as the defending World Series champions pursue another title. Los Angeles enters the week with a 31-19 record and a two-game winning streak after a dominant 4-0 victory over the San Diego Padres in a complete team effort.

Shortstop Miguel Rojas has been an effective contributor for the Dodgers this season. The veteran is batting .286 with a .316 on-base percentage and a .687 OPS, along with one home run and seven RBIs in 28 games. Rojas, a two-time World Series champion, has also continued to provide Gold Glove-caliber defense for Los Angeles this year.

Although the Dodgers have enjoyed plenty of success this season, the club also received unfortunate news regarding relief pitcher Brusdar Graterol. The right-hander, who has been recovering from major shoulder surgery, suffered a lower back injury during his Triple-A rehab assignment.

According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Graterol will be “shut down for a while.”

After the update, teammate Miguel Rojas reacted to Graterol’s Instagram post about the injury by commenting, “.” Graterol remained optimistic in his message, writing, “I know God has better things in store for me. I am a warrior; I do not give up — I keep fighting. I love you all. This is not goodbye; it is ‘see you soon.’ bless.”

Graterol has dealt with a lengthy injury history throughout his career, including Tommy John surgery in 2016, elbow and shoulder issues from 2022-23, and shoulder and labrum surgery during the 2024-25 offseason.

The latest setback is another tough blow for both Graterol and the Dodgers, as the right-hander has proven to be one of baseball’s most dominant late-inning relievers when healthy.

Now in his sixth season with Los Angeles after making his MLB debut in 2019, Graterol has become an important part of the organization’s bullpen. The two-time World Series champion is currently playing on a one-year, $2.8 million contract as he works toward another comeback.
