The Milwaukee Brewers are 85-53 following their 8-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon. All was not lost, however, on what was a frustrating day that saw the usually fundamentally sound Brewers make mistake after mistake, both on defense and on the basepaths.
The Craig Counsell-led Chicago Cubs, who started the day 6.5 games behind Milwaukee for first place in the National League Central Division, remained so after falling to the lowly Colorado Rockies 6-5. After Luis Peralta, the brother of Brewers ace Freddy Peralta, allowed Chicago to tie the game 5-5, Colorado walked the game off with an RBI triple in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Additionally, the Cubs signed former Brewers pitcher Aaron Civale, owner of a 5.37 ERA since Milwaukee traded him for Andrew Vaughn earlier this season.
And to top it all off, Milwaukee is bringing a former fan-favorite back into the organization.
On Sunday evening, there were multiple reports online that the Brewers had agreed to bring back former fan-favorite infielder Luis Urias to a minor league contract:
Welcome back, Wicho.
The Brewers have signed Luis Urias to minor-league deal.
He joins Class AAA Nashville tomorrow.

Urias first came to the Brewers in the November 2019 trade that sent Zack Davies and Trent Grisham to the San Diego Padres. Urias and Eric Lauer came to Milwaukee in return.
The first season of Urias’ tenure with the Brewers was the COVID-shortened 2020 season, which saw him hit .239/.308/.204 with no home runs and 11 RBI.
In 2021, his first full season as a Major League player, Urias hit .249/.345/.445 with 23 home runs and 75 RBI, leading many to believe he could have a long-term spot on Milwaukee’s roster.
However, in 2022, Urias took a bit step back offensively as he hit .239/.335/.404 with 16 home runs and 47 RBI in 119 games. In 2023, he got off to an even worse start, and was hitting just .145/.299/.236 through 20 games with Milwaukee when they traded him to the Boston Red Sox for Bradley Blalock.
Following the 2023 season, Urias was traded to the Seattle Mariners, but hit just .191/.303/.394 with four home runs and 16 RBI in 41 games for them.
This year, he played 96 games for the Athletics, and had his best season since 2022, hitting .230/.315.338 with eight home runs and 25 RBI. However, he was designated for assignment and then waived.
Now, he will return to the Brewers organization by reporting to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
