The Milwaukee Brewers had five picks on day one of the 2025 MLB Draft. They selected 20th overall (1st round) 32nd (compensation pick for losing Willy Adames in free agency), 59th (2nd round), 68th (competitive balance round-b) and 94th (3rd round).

It is worth noting that the Brew Crew also previously owned the 33rd overall pick (competitive balance round-a), but they traded that selection to the Boston Red Sox during the Quinn Preister deal. The Brewers also were rewarded with the 68th overall pick after they were unable to sign Chris Levonas in last year’s draft.

Here, we recap the Milwaukee Brewers five selections on day one of the 2025 MLB Draft

  • Andrew Fischer, 1B/3B, Tennessee – 20th overall

For the second consecutive draft, Milwaukee has selected a power hitting corner infielder from the University of Tennessee. Andrew Fischer, this year’s selection, transferred to Tennessee for the 2025 season, so his time at the school did not overall with Brewers 2024 draft pick Blake Burke. In 2025, Fischer reached base on all 65 games while hitting 25 home runs and drawing 63 walks.

  • Brady Ebel, SS/3B, Corona HS (CA) – 32nd overall

Brady Ebel has MLB ties as his dad is the Los Angeles Dodgers third base coach, Dino Ebel. The scouting report on Brady is that he has the chance to be a high IQ infielder with the ability to stick at shortstop long term. He also was one of three Corona High School products selected on day one of the draft.

  • J.D. Thompson, LHP, Vanderbilt – 59th overall

The Brewers seemingly went with a safer pick 59th overall as J.D. Thompson has a good track record of success, but he doesn’t light up the radar gun or have significant advanced metrics that would indicate he would someday be a top of the rotation starter. Rather, Thompson has a mid 90’s fastball that tends to get good results and his best secondary pitch is a changeup.

  • Frank Cairone, LHP, Delsea HS (NJ) – 68th overall

A Coastal Carolina commit, Frank Cairone was selected 68th by the Brewers. The prep southpaw had a 0.48 ERA in high school where he struck out 94 batters over 44 innings of work. He doesn’t turn 18 until September and has plenty of room to grow.

  • Jacob Morrison, RHP, Coastal Carolina -94th overall

The Brewers love tall and lengthy pitchers, like Jacob Misiorowski, and Jacob Morrison is similar as he stands at 6’8″. Morrison has already had Tommy John surgery, currently sits in the 91-95 MPH range with his fastball, but his extension makes the perceived velocity much higher. Scouts say Morrison could become a middle of the rotation starter in the big leagues.

Day two of the MLB Draft will take place on July 14. Stay tuned to Wisconsin Sports Heroics as we recap all of the Brewers remaining selections.
