For the first time since 2018, the Milwaukee Brewers have won a postseason series. On Saturday night, they took down their hated division rival, the Chicago Cubs, in the deciding winner-take-all Game Five of the National League Divisional Series by the score of 3-1.

The deciding Game Five saw both the Brewers and Cubs use high-leverage relief pitchers as openers, with NL All-Star closer Trevor Megill taking the mound for Milwaukee while former Brewer Drew Pomeranz toed the rubber for Chicago.

With both teams dedicating their bullpens to the game, offense was hard to come by for both sides, but three solo home runs by William Contreras, Andrew Vaughn, and Brice Turang proved to be enough to give Milwaukee the win.

As was the gritty performance of rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski.

Even though the Brewers committed to using their bullpen for Game Five, it was still crucial for one of their arms to pitch for a large portion of the game, and to do so effectively.

As he did in Game Two, that is exactly what Jacob Misiorowski did. He came into the game at the top of the second inning, and gave up a solo home run on the second pitch that he threw. After that, though, he locked Chicago hitters down.

The surprising 2025 NL All-Star ended up pitching four strong innings, allowing just the one run on three hits and striking out three. He did not walk a batter.

Misiorowski got the winning decision when Abner Uribe locked down the eighth and ninth innings for a crucial six-out save, making him just the second rookie ever to record a win in his first two career postseason games:

As one can see, former Brewers reliever Francisco Rodriguez was the first to accomplish the feat, though he did so with the Los Angeles Angels.

After going 5-3 with a 4.36 ERA in the regular season, Misiorowski is now 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in the playoffs.
