The Milwaukee Brewers continued their recent offensive production with a massive 17-6 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Friday night. After defeating the Chicago Cubs 8-7 on Thursday, many wondered in Milwaukee’s inconsistent offense had any runs left to give for their weekend series, which saw Jacob Misiorowski make his much-anticipated second career start.
And did the bats ever deliver! Despite not getting a hit through the game’s first four innings, and despite the fact that they were winning just 1-0 entering the sixth inning, Milwaukee plated 16 runs through the game’s final four frames, including 14 in the last three.
Had it not been for backup first baseman Jake Bauers giving up four runs in the bottom of the ninth when Pat Murphy had him pitch, the game would have looked even more like the blowout that it was.
But the story of the night was not the offense: it was Misiorowski.
As many fans will recall, Misiorowski pitched five no-hit innings in his Major League debut last week against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was supposed to make his next start against the Cubs, but Chicago’s decision to makeup their rained out game in August instead of having a double-header on Thursday meant his next start was to come on Friday night.
And while fans were more than a little disappointed that they had to wait to see Misiorowski pitch again, his performance against the Twins was well-worth it.
Misirowski dominated Minnesota batters for six innings, again not allowing a hit. He became the first starting pitcher since 1900 to begin his career with 11 no-hit innings:
UNBELIEVABLE: Jacob Misiorowski is the only MLB pitcher since 1900 to have more wins (2) than hits allowed (1) over his first 2 career starts.

After the Brewers poured on five runs in the top of the seventh inning, the Brewers’ young flamethrower came out for the seventh, but gave up a walk and then a two-run home run to end his night. However, he earned his second career win on the back of six innings pitched, two earned runs on just one hit, one walk, and six strikeouts.
He set social media ablaze with some of his more devasting pitches, as well:

And if that were not enough, Misirowksi is also the first pitcher in the modern era with more (two) than hits given up (one) through his first two career starts.
It would appear the Brewers have found another ace.
