The Milwaukee Brewers could be eyeing a power bat as the trade deadline approaches. Whether it’s bringing in a big bat to take over designated hitter duties and pushing Christian Yelich back to the outfield, upgrading the left side of the infield, or simply adding a strong bench presence for late-game situations, an offensive addition would be a good add before the calendar flips to August.
Recently, Francys Romero linked the Brewers to the Los Angeles Angels current third baseman Yoan Moncada. Due to Romero’s recent reporting about Milwaukee engaging in contract extensions with Jacob Misirowoski being shut down by FanSided’s Robert Murray, his comments should be taken lightly. Nonetheless it raises the question as to if Moncada would be a good fit for the Brewers or not.
Yoan Moncada continues to draw interest from multiple MLB teams ahead of the Trade Deadline, according to industry sources.
Moncada, 30, will be a free agent at the end of the season.
The Yankees, Cubs, Brewers, and Mariners could be among the top contenders.

Once a prized prospect acquired by the Chicago White Sox in the Chris Sale to Boston deal, Yoan Moncada has struggled to put everything all together since breaking out in 2019. That year he slashed .315/.367/.548 over 132 games that included 25 home runs and 34 doubles.
Post the shortened 2020 season, numerous injuries have slowed Moncada down, including a thumb sprain and knee inflammation in 2025. When healthy this year, Moncada has hit an impressive amount of home runs to games played, as he has seven long balls over just 36 contests.
Between a current .805 OPS, being on the Angels, and a free agent at seasons end, this has his name up in trade discussions. For Milwaukee’s sake, they would be best to avoid Moncada at the deadline.
His injury history is not favorable, he would be a step down from Caleb Durbin at third base, and while his bat has been good this year, there are better every DH options out there at this year’s deadline, such as Marcell Ozuna and Adolis Garcia. Milwaukee would be better off looking for an alternative option that provides more upside and reliability.
