Milwaukee Brewers Make MLB History on Wednesday

The Milwaukee Brewers have been on a roll for the past few weeks. They got their second straight sweep and third straight series win after beating the Atlanta Braves 5-4. And with that, they have also etched their name in MLB history.

The Brewers have managed to win 70 times this season in a span of 114 games. The fastest for any team in the franchise to reach that metric. The 2021 squad did it in 119 games, 2011 and 1982 squads took 121 games.

Not only that, they also managed to be the first team to be on a road trip and score 50+ runs, while also not dropping a match or committing an error. They firmly secure the top spot in the NL Central.

Andrew Vaughn homered, extending his hitting streak to a career best 12 games. Blake Perkins went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and two RBIs. Starter José Quintana allowed three runs over six innings with seven strikeouts. Relievers Jared Koenig and Abner Uribe combined for scoreless innings, and Trevor Megill earned his 26th save.

“It was all about settling in and trusting my stuff,” Quintana said. “After that first inning, I just focused on keeping the ball down and mixing speeds.”

Up next, the Brewers face the New York Mets. The latter got swept by the Cleveland Guardians and will come from a four-game losing streak. In fact, in the last nine games, they have only managed to win once. Things look in favor of Milwaukee.
