Milwaukee secured the 5-2 victory behind 6.0 scoreless innings from Jacob Misiorowski, who allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out eight. The Brewers built an early lead through RBI singles by Garrett Mitchell and Jake Bauers. Brice Turang hit a two-run homer in the eighth, providing essential insurance. The bullpen faced a late threat in the eighth inning. Aaron Ashby surrendered two runs. Chad Patrick escaped a bases-loaded jam. Abner Uribe retired the side in the ninth for his fifth save.
Second baseman Brice Turang finished the night 3-for-4 with two runs, one walk, and two RBIs. Turang’s biggest moment happened in the top of the eighth inning. He crushed a 370-foot two-run home run to left-center field off Cubs reliever Trent Thornton. This blast pushed the lead to 5-0. It effectively silenced the Wrigley Field crowd. It also provided the necessary cushion to withstand Chicago’s late-inning rally.
The Brewers go for the three-game series sweep tonight at 6:40 PM CDT. Kyle Harrison (4-1, 2.09 ERA) is scheduled to start against Chicago righty Edward Cabrera (3-1, 4.06 ERA).
The Crew is clicking at the right time with 10 wins in their last 12 games. What do you think?
