A high school hockey player from northern Minnesota had a moment Wednesday night that would've made Bert Blyleven and Anthony Edwards proud.
No, we're not talking about Whitaker Rewertz's game-winning goal in overtime to send Hibbing/Chisholm to next week's prestigious boys' state hockey tournament. We're talking about his postgame interview with WDIO when he dropped an impassioned F-bomb.
Mom? Dad? Give the freshman a pass on this one because he instantly became a local hockey hero by tapping the puck into the back of the net at 2:18 of overtime to give Hibbing/Chisholm a 4-3 win over Cloquet-Esko-Carlton in the Section 7A championship game.
"They're a f***ing good team. They're a really good team," Rewertz said when asked about his team's resiliency.
He's not wrong. Hibbing/Chisholm had to come back twice, having trailed 1-0 early and then 3-2 midway through the third period. And the section title resiliency came after they rallied to defeat perennial power Hermantown in the section semifinals. Hermantown had won the section 14 of the past 15 years.

“Yeah, it’s a dream come true to finally be going to the state tournament. It’s amazing, best feeling ever,” Rewertz told WDIO.
The freshman also credited his teammate Cole Swanson for an incredible pass, which set him up for an easy goal into an open net.
“Scoring the goal, anyone could have done that. It’s just an easy tap-in," Rewertz humbly stated.
